What does BENOR mean for a fire extinguisher?

BENOR (BElgian NORm) is a brand owned by the BIN (Belgian Institute for Standardization). It means that the extinguishers comply with the Belgian standard (NBN).

Manufacturers wishing to obtain a BENOR quality mark must have regular internal and external checks carried out on their products. Not all companies want or are able to afford this.

In a professional context, your insurance will almost always ask you to install fire extinguishers with a BENOR label. This guarantees the quality and controllability of the fire extinguishers. That is why department store chains that sell fire extinguishers often do not use their own fire extinguishers.

Make sure you check your fire insurance! This requirement does not apply for private use.
